It was supposed to be released on Sunday but the official COD Advanced Warfare trailer has already been leaked early. Due for release on November 4th 2014, Advanced Warfare will be the first game developed by Sledgehammer Games.
Previous leaks thought that COD 2014 would be set in WW1 but this just blows that apart, confirming that COD Advanced Warfare takes a similar direction to Black Ops 2. Futuristic weapons, vehicles and body suits are confirmed.
There will be epic naval conflicts, hoverbike skirmishes, aggressive 'walking' turrets - all based around futuristic arsenals and abilities. Of course, most of what was shown will be solo campaign action but it does give a feel for what to expect in Advanced Warfare multiplayer.
First here's the trailer, and the breakdown a further below:
Amazon listing leaked
Amazon have revealed even more details about COD Advanced Warfare on their website. The following new features have been spotted:
- New weapon class: Directed-energy weaponry
- Verticality through boost jumps and grappling
- Cloaking abilities
- Highly specialized drones
COD Advanced Warfare - New Features from Trailer
Exoskeleton Suits
Super powerful jumpsuits, similar to Titanfall in many ways. Combined with futuristic helmets, these additions give players advanced visual displays, wall climbing and extended jump abilities, combined with more power and protection vs standard armour. It's possible that these exo-suits will have their own upgrade paths and perks via the in-game loadout.
Kevin Spacey
The American actor, famous for roles in The Usual suspects, American Beauty and more recently House of Cards, will play the lead role in the Advanced Warfare story.
Invisibility
Ignoring the predator from Ghosts, Advanced Warfare will be the first game to include player invisibility. Shown in the image below, the soldier wearing the exo-suit activates the invisibility perk.
Tactical Grenade Scanner
Another similar concept to Titanfall's Active Radar Pulse, the trailer shows a player throwing a tactical grenade which immediately scans the room. The visual display turns a distorted red/yellow colour, revealing the location of enemy players via bright yellow shapes (see top right of image below):
Thermal Scan Weapons
Maybe not as OP as the Target Finder in Black Ops 2, but this thermal weapon can also highlight players when ADS. It also appears to highlight players through walls and those obstructed from clear line of sight.
Wall Climbing
Specially designed gloves will allow players to scale walls and climb over buildings, something which COD has never had. Titanfall has the parkour theme but this seems more linear with players scaling walls rather than increasing their vertically via repeated jumps and wall running.
Hoverbikes
Advanced bikes that resemble a cross between motorbikes and snow bikes. Only one occupant but plenty of armour on these bikes. Unlikely to appear in multiplayer, expect them in the solo campaign.
