MW3 DLC - Release Date, Maps and First Screenshots

modern warfare 3The first DLC for Modern Warfare 3 is set for release on
24th January for Elite subscribers. Gamers can expect two news maps; Libreration set in New York's Central Park and Piazza set in Italy.
Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling has confirmed that the new maps will be available for Xbox owners first, followed by PC and PS3 owners later. It's a mini sized DLC (only two maps) but it kicks off the start of 20 DLC packs between now and November 2012 (when the next COD is due out – Black Ops 2).
This DLC only contains multiplayer maps but in the future MW3 DLC will come with new spec op missions, survival maps and lots of other goodies. Robert highlighted Piazza as a great map for an alternate multiplayer experience. The map has some unique vertical landscapes which makes combat challenging and more tactical. The landscape and setting is also visually impressive – set in a mountainside village next to the ocean.
