Call of Duty Elite - COD Online (Social Networking)

Activision are launching a new online subscription service for Call of Duty players. The Elite subscription will partner the next COD game - Modern Warfare 3 game.

Available late 2011, a Call of Duty Elite subscription offers players the chance to compete in online tournaments and leagues around the world. All statistics from online games are stored and players can access and share statistics such as the most effective weapon or most used kill streak. Get tips on ways to improve your game and see where you're making those critical mistakes.

Whilst the Xbox Live subscription service has been affective at selling DLC such as new map packs (First Strike etc..) the new Elite subscription will let players purchase even more content. It's up to Activision how far they stretch the service. Players may be able to buy new weapons or unique kill streaks via Elite.

However, the real power of Elite comes from the social networking features. You can create groups from local players or create clans of the best players. Share your theatre videos with friends and boast about your achievements. With over 30 million COD players, its not going to be hard to find a buddy to team up with!!

The Elite service is compatible with any COD game from Black Ops onwards. It's an optional $5 on top of buying the game (currently around $60). Xbox 360 owners also need to pay for the Xbox Live subscription.
