Modern Warfare 3 Official Gameplay - Maps, Modes and Storyline

The first official details of Modern Warfare 3 are here. Thanks to the leaked details from Kotaku we now know the new multiplayer maps, weapons and story line for the new Modern Warfare game.

Campaign

The Modern Warfare 3 campaign (single player) will take place in the near future and feature missions from Paris to Manhattan. It's an epic battle involving elite military units spread around the globe from the U.S, through to Paris and London and ending in Dubai. Modern Warfare 3 takes off where Modern Warfare 2 left us – a surprise attack from the Russians. This confirms it's not going to be a prequel but rather a near future war between the U.S and the Russian forces.

Manhattan is the focus of the opening scenes with Russia launching an attack on the U.S with ships (submarines) from the Hudson River. You take on the role of fighting off the attack from the top of the New York Stock Exchange. From there you'll jump between different elite units from SEAL Team 6, to Delta Forces and the SAS.

The Modern Warfare campaign will take you from the urban cities in the U.S through to India, then across Europe to Russia and finally ending in Dubai.

During the campaign mode you'll play as; SEAL Team 6 (the U.S special ops/navy seals heroes), SAS (England's finest secret service operatives), Yuri (a loyalist for Nikolai), Delta Force Operative (Frost).

New Modes

The game contains a mix of new missions-based and Special Ops modes. Although most players will be familiar with the mission based mode back in Modern Warfare 2, the survival maps will be much like Zombies or Halo's survival mode. Players need to fend off an increasing number of enemy waves to survive as long as possible (its zombies without the zombies). These survival maps include Carbon, Dome and Seatown (see below for full list of maps).

Multiplayer

As many as 20 new multiplayer maps will be released with the game. Some will as usual come through buying the DLC and expansion packs.

Modern Warfare 3 Official Teaser Trailer

This is the first official trailer from Activision. It includes an audio conversation between the elite U.S forces in the Manhattan area. This has been confirmed to be the first mission you play in the MW3 Campaign.

When is the Modern Warfare 3 release date?

The game will be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on 8th November 2011 (11/08/2011).
