After last years Battlefield 3 vs Modern Warfare 3 saga, this year we'll see several games take on Call of Duty for best FPS. A brand new Medal of Honor game called Warfighter, Halo4 and Resident Evil 6 are all planned for release. So which will be the best FPS game in 2012?
With such a lovely array of games set for release, Call of Duty is going to have a tough ride in 2012. They've done it for several years now but have gamers become bored of the same game re-skinned?
Let's take a look at each of the contenders
Medal of Honor - Warfighter
The first serious contender to arrive on the scene in 2012 is Medal of Honour - Warfighter. If you think back to the last Medal of Honor game in 2010, simply titled Medal of Honor, it wasn't a bad game but was let down by the shaky frame rate and disappointing graphics. Bad luck for EA because it also came out the same year as the original Black Ops game.
In recent years Medal of Honor has had a bad run. You've got to go back to Medal of Honor - Allied Assault in 2002 to remember the best.
The new Warfighter game will utilize the same Frostbite 2 engine that was present in Battlefield 3. The engine provides the basis for the most realistic real time graphics without the need to scale down frame rates. Some of the early Battlefield 3 gameplay from E3 was astonishing and we can expect more of the same with Warfighter.
Will it beat Black Ops 2? Highly unlikely.

Chances of beating Black Ops 24/10Halo 4
The next Halo game in the legendary Halo series is not being developed by Bungie. It's over to 343 Industries to take on the responsibility of creating one of the best loved video games in history. That's brave!
Not in the same category as Call of Duty for obvious reasons, Halo is a combination of a great story and great multiplayer backed up with impressive visuals and epic soundtrack.
Will Halo 4 be as good as other Halo games? Sorry to let Halo fans down (and we're one of them) but it's not a good sign when the company who created the original has decided to move on. Bungie were epic and it's going to take something quite spectacular to live up to the name.

It's been a long time coming but Resident Evil 6 is a game that could give Call of Duty a real run for its money. Resident Evil goes back as far as 1996 and the original Playstation console. The fan base is huge and the games are consistently good (if you take away the Darkside Chronicles).
The only minor issue with Resident Evil 6 is the fact that the games heading down the dialog route with conversations between characters. That's not something that we like the sound of. Mass Effect has done this and succeeded once and failed twice.
