Black Ops Map Editor, Cheating and Hacks

The online director for Call of Duty (Dan Bunting) revealed that Black Ops includes advanced anti-cheating measures. Anyone caught cheating online could face a permanent ban.
This could include anything from influencing rankings, infinite ammo or life, mid air floating, weapon mods or map hacks.
It turns out that Dan and his team have taken cheating so seriously that a dedicated programmer was working on the anti-cheating code for months. The Black Ops multiplayer system will monitor online games to spot cheaters, map editors and modders.
Dan also boasted that hackers won't be able to hack their hardware to change maps or customize weapons. The anti-cheating system will be able to detect those changes and report them to Sony or Microsoft.
This comes in contrast to recent news that a hacker was able to mod the Beta version of Black Ops to gain infinite ammo. Another hacker was also able to hack some of the multiplayer zombie maps to add better weapons.
It's a bold statement from Treyarch and one which will please the vast majority of Call of Duty players. Honest players want to have consistency and confidence in the tournaments and rankings. The online multiplayer element of Call of Duty is so important to the success of the game that Treyarch has to clamp down on these things.
Black Ops Map Editor
For those of us just wanting to create some new maps for zombies or a new single player campaign, we're at a loss. It's true that in previous versions of Call of Duty there was a map editor - ths was only on the PC version though.
Similarly, when Modern Warfare was released, PC users also had the luxury of another mod tool called Call of Duty Radiant. This was a free download that allowed players to create new 3D maps.
It seems highly unlikely that we'll be able to create new maps for Black Ops because of the introduction of DLC (which comes at a price as we all know). So, we'll just have to put our faith in the hands of the experts and look forward to some of the new Black Ops maps that are released later this year.
