Black Ops update will improve sniper rifle but no return for quickscoping

Posted in black ops

Treyarch have released their plans for the next Black ops update which will fix the weak sniper rifle but suppress knife attacks. The hope is to return some of the fire power back to sniper after the Quickscoping suppression from a previous update.

What changes will there be for the sniper rifle and Quickscoping?

Treyarch are looking at re-establishing the ability to perform instant kill head shots with the sniper. This will come as welcome news to those who enjoy using the sniper rifle on the larger maps to pick off players at range. However, it does not see the return of the quickscoping tactic which many online players have used aggressively.

When was Quickscoping stopped?

Previously, Treyarch released an update to stop players using the quickscoping technique to kill opponents by momentarily looking through the sniper scope and shooting. However, the update went too far and the sniper rifle has become limited and much weaker than other close range weapons such as shotgun or SMG. There are legitimate players who shoot at close range with the sniper from time to time, but its never going to be easy to stop the “quick scopers” without affecting everyone else.

What will happen to the knife attack?

On the knife front, the Black Ops update will not turn the knife into a two hit kill nor will you need to draw your knife before making a swipe. These could be saved for a future game – probably the next Call of Duty 8. However, this update will limit the swipe range so you'll not be able to make so many lunge knife kills as before.
